The MotoGP™ eSport Global Series is back up and running as qualifying for Round 2 took place and threw up its fair share of surprises!
davideturrisi06 claimed pole for the second Global Series Sprint of the year as well as Race 2, while 2025 surprise package PieroRicciuti55 took pole for Race 1.
After a break of more than a month, the series returns with Round 2. One of two virtual events this year, the Global Series then has its finale live and in person at Milan Games Week in late November, where the the stunning Italian city will be the scene of the crowning of this year’s MotoGP™ eSport Champion!
While former champions Jack Hammer4658 and Adriaan_26 are among the favourites to add another crown to their tally, this year’s Global Series line up boasts a group of hungry young gamers keen to show off their speed. davideturrisi06 is chief among them after scoring two wins in Round 1. Five nationalities are represented, with the finalists hailing from the UK, Indonesia, Thailand, Italy and Spain.
Round 2 will offer up plenty of challenges to the 11 entrants. The Sprint will take place at Indonesia’s spectacular Pertamina Mandalika Circuit before the Petronas Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia hosts Race 1. And Portugal’s undulating Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is the scene of Race 2.
Qualifying for the Sprint was topped by davideturrisi06, but only just. Cristianmm17 was just 0.013s behind in second, while ilgallinadaviiwas a fine third. PieroRicciuti55 prevailed in a wet qualifying for Race 1 but there was less than a tenth in it! 26_adriaan was second, 0.027s back, with davideturrisi06third. Again, it couldn’t be tighter ahead of Race 2, as 0.048s covered the top four! davideturrisi06 topped this one, with Cristianmm17 second and PieroRicciuti55 third.
It’s all set up for a stunning show this Friday, when presenters Connor Doherty and Chris Jordan will host the second show of the year in which will begin with highlights of qualifying before the 11 riders take on three race tracks that will pit the finalists’ skills to the test.
