MotoGP™ eSport Championship
The MotoGP™ eSport Championship is the sole eSports Championship for the Official MotoGP™ videogame.
Phases of the Championship
The Championship will have three phases: Online Challenges, Pro Draft and the Global Series.
On each Online Challenge and Pro Draft the track, rider selection, bike used, riding options, as well as any other relevant conditions, will be decided by the organizers and cannot be changed.
During the Online Challenges and the Pro Draft, bike damages, tyre consumption, the ‘Ideal trajectory’ line and the rewind feature will be disabled.
The participants will be able to choose between manual or semi-automatic transmission.
The participants will be also able to change the level of Traction Control, Brake System, Anti Wheelie, Suspension, ECU, Gear Ratio, tyres and different steering adjustments.
3.1 ONLINE CHALLENGES:
Six (6) Online Challenges will be disputed in time attack mode on a particular track, with a particular MotoGP™ rider and bike without any opponents, in order to set the fastest single lap time.
These Online Challenges will be available in the game Official MotoGP™19 videogame, on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Pc via Steam gaming platform, at a specific time during the Term, as chosen by DORNA and can only be accessed during the specified time window.
Each Online Challenge will have its own leaderboard that is openly available to all competitors during and after each Online Challenge period.
The top two (2) gamers per platform and region (EU-Rest of the World) who achieve the fastest single lap time will qualify for the next step of the Championship, the PRO DRAFT.
During the Online Challenge period there is no limit to how many timed laps a gamer makes on the selected circuit.
In case of identical lap times across multiple users and platforms, ranking will be decided by the time the lap was completed and uploaded. For example, if two players set identical fastest lap times then whoever set this time first will sit at the top of the leaderboard.
Twelve gamers will be classified per challenge: 6 from Europe (2 from PS4, 2 from Xbox One and 2 from PC) and 6 from the Rest of the World (2 from PS4, 2 from Xbox One and 2 from PC).
In total 36 gamers from Europe and 36 from the rest of the world will be classified for the PRO DRAFT. In the event where a gamer ceases to participate in the Pro Draft 2019 (for reasons including but not limited to withdrawal, disqualification or medical issues), the respective gamer will be replaced by the gamer who has achieved the following fastest lap time on the same leaderboard (same platform and same world region).
The EU countries are: Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kosovo, Republic of Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, San Marino, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain,Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine and United Kingdom.
All the countries that do not appear in the above list will be considered as a Rest of the World country.
The Online Challenges will actually be comprised of two phases: the first phase where the player has to gain access to the ranked event (Red Bull Rookies Cup, Moto3™ and Moto2™) and the second phase which is the actual “time attack” (MotoGP™) where the times are recorded and ranked.
The track for the Online Challenges, the rider and the bike used by the player, during the second phase, will be decided by DORNA and cannot be changed by the player. In particular, the rewind feature will be disabled for all the gameplay phases of the qualification challenges.
Weather conditions will be pre-set and cannot be changed.
There will be no time penalties during Online Challenges. In case of any irregularities, such as exceeding the track limits, falling at any point, and collisions with walls or other elements, the lap time will be invalid.
Best laps during each Online Challenge will be available through MotoGP™19 as ghosts. All ghosts can be downloaded by other competitors and loaded during play to enable a visual reference of their on-track performance. In addition to this, ghosts may be used by organizers to verify that a lap time has been achieved without cheating. For a qualifying time to be valid, uploading the ghost is compulsory if the lap time is ranked as one of the Top 30 lap times within the Championship standings.
Once a Participant qualifies for the Pro Draft in an Online Challenge through any platform, he/she can still play future challenges at his leisure, but his/her time will not be considered for qualifications, for such Pro Draft.
All the classified players will be notified by e-mail by no later than five working (5) days after the closing date of the challenge in question.
DORNA reserves the right to disqualify an already classified player if he/she doesn’t answer a DORNA notification within three (3) working days. In this event the second-best time on the same platform will substitute such player.
If a challenge is canceled or modified for whatever reason no claims can be made against DORNA.
3.2 PRO DRAFT (Online)
The Pro Draft will be open to gamers who have proceeded from the Online Challenges of the MotoGP™ eSport Championship 2019.
During the Pro Draft all the qualified gamers will have to compete on the same platform with which they have been classified (PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Pc).
For avoidance of doubt, if a gamer has qualified through PlayStation 4, such gamer will have to compete only on PlayStation 4. If a gamer has qualified through Xbox One, such gamer will have to compete only on Xbox One. If a gamer has qualified through PC, such gamer will have to compete only on PC.
The track for the Pro Draft, the rider and the bike used by the player during the online competition, will be decided by DORNA and cannot be changed by the player.
During the first step of the Pro Draft, the Regional Selection, 72 gamers will compete by world regions to be one of the 2019 MotoGP™ eSport riders. Each gamer will have to compete with the platform with which it has been classified (PS4, Xbox One or PC).
The Regional Selection will be disputed in time attack mode, on a particular track, with a particular MotoGP™ rider and bike without any opponents. Unlike the Online Challenges the time has not to be set on a single lap but on a “Run” of 3 laps.
The gamers who achieve the fastest time [top 9 from Europe (3 from PS4, 3 from Xbox One and 3 from PC) and top 3 from the rest of the world (1 from PS4, 1 from Xbox One and 1 from PC)] will become a MotoGP™ eSport Rider and will qualify for the Global Series.
In case of identical lap times across multiple users and platforms, ranking will be decided by the time the lap was completed and uploaded. For example, if two players set identical fastest lap times then whoever set this time first will sit at the top of the leaderboard.
Once the 12 MotoGP™ eSport Riders 2019 have been defined, one last Challenge, the Team Selection, will be disputed on a single platform (PC). The Challenge will be disputed in time attack mode on a particular track, with a particular MotoGP™ rider and bike without any opponents in order to set the best possible single lap time.
According to the results of this Challenge, the 2019 MotoGP™ eSport Riders will choose, in finish order, the MotoGP™ Team which they will represent during the 2019 Global Series.
For avoidance of doubt, 12 MotoGP™ eSport Riders will participate in the MotoGP™ Team selection, the selection order shall be as follows:
The MotoGP™ eSport Rider with the fastest lap time in the Team Selection of the Pro Draft has first pick amongst the other MotoGP™ eSport Riders, the MotoGP™ eSport Rider with the second fastest lap time has second pick amongst the remaining MotoGP™ eSport Riders and so on until all MotoGP™ eSport Riders have chosen a MotoGP™ Team.
In the event that the 2018 MotoGP™ eSport Champion becomes one of the twelve 2019 MotoGP™ eSport Riders, then the current MotoGP™ eSport Champion will have first pick amongst the other MotoGP™ eSport Riders 2019.
All the MotoGP™ eSport Riders shall select a different MotoGP™ Team. Considering that there are 11 MotoGP™ Teams on the 2019 MotoGP™ Grid, the selection of a MotoGP™ Team already selected by another MotoGP™ eSport Rider shall only be permitted once.
(Once one MotoGP™ eSport Rider has selected a MotoGP™ Team already selected by another MotoGP™ eSport Rider, the selection of another MotoGP™ Team already selected by a MotoGP™ eSport Rider will not be permitted).
Thus, all the MotoGP™ Teams 2019 will be present during the Global Series with one bike, with the exemption of one MotoGP™ Team that will be represented through two bikes.
According to the results of the Team Selection Challenge, all the MotoGP™ eSport Riders shall select, in finish order, a different number for the Global Series 2019. Neither number 1, 34, 58, 65, 69, 74 nor real MotoGP™ numbers will be allowed.
In the event that the MotoGP™ eSport Champion 2018 becomes one of the twelve MotoGP™ eSport Riders 2019, then the current MotoGP™ eSport Champion will have first pick amongst the other MotoGP™ eSport Riders 2019.
