The second round of the 2025 MotoGP™ eSport’s Global Series gets underway this week on Friday 31st October September. The tension is building!
The Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia is the venue for the second Sprint of this year’s Global Series, before the Petronas Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia and Portugal’s Autodromo Internacional do Algarve host race one and two respectively.
To build up the excitement to the first Global Series round of 2025, here are guides for all three circuits in Round 2:
Pertamina Mandalika Circuit
The Indonesian venue is well known for being fast and flowing, as well as exceptionally tricky to perform overtaking moves on. Its spectacular seaside setting is a fitting backdrop to Sectors 1 and 2, which feature the fabulous sequence of corners, from Turns 6 to 9.
MotoGP™ has only been coming to this track since 2022, but it’s already thrown up numerous memorable moments, such as Miguel Oliveira’s brilliant wet weather win in 2022, and Jorge Martin’s dramatic crash out of the lead in 2023. In short, this track invites drama!
Petronas Sepang International Circuit
In terms of weather, there are few challenges like it. The Malaysian Grand Prix often takes place in temperatures exceeding 30 degrees and humidity of 55 percent. Riders talk of this being the most physically demanding challenge of the year. On track, finding adequate rear traction is therefore a priority.
The 5.5-kilometre Sepang International Circuit serves up a great deal of variety. Be it the awesome turn three, or the downhill turn five, there is plenty of fast bends to excite. But a smattering of heavy-braking hairpins is thrown in, to ensure a compromise is needed in terms of bike set-up.
Autodromo Internacional do Algarve
Few tracks on the current MotoGP™ calendar set the pulse racing like this one. In terms of physicality, undulations and variety of turns, the venue also known as Portimao sets it apart.
Nestled in the beautiful setting of Portugal’s Algarve, the 100,000 capacity Autodromo Internacional do Algarve – known more colloquially as Portimao, after the port city it sits half an hour outside of – was opened on the 2nd of November, 2008.
In terms of the actual circuit layout, the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve has 15 corners – nine right, six left. The undulation in Portimao is incredible and the front straight will allow the MotoGP™ riders to really stretch the legs of their machines, before a unique downhill descend into Turn 1. There's a reason it gets called a high-speed rollercoaster, it's a thrill for riders and fans alike.
