In a new, expanded format, the twelve Global Series finalists were all on site to pit their wits against one another in two epic bouts. The first was around the fabulous Mugello circuit and the second came from Austria’s Red Bull Ring.
MotoGP riders Jack Miller and Fabio Quartararo added some glamour and star power to the televised event, with the Australian showing off plenty of his trademark wit when offering the finalists advice on the two circuits they were taking on. Quartararo, meanwhile, took on commentary duties for race two.
The two races didn’t disappoint. Mugello played host to a classis two-horse race between eSport veterans AndrewZH and Cristianmm17 in the first outing. In the end Ducati Racing’s AndrewZH stood firm in the face of unrelenting pressure from Ecstar Suzuki’s lead challenger, taking his first win in what would ultimately be a victorious season.
The second was just as dramatic. After taking the lead on the first lap, Cristianmm17 pulled clear for his debut triumph of the year. And behind it all kicked off. First AndrewZH and adrianDP26 collided, taking both men out of the podium fight. That left three men to produce a brilliant fight for third, with Juan_nh16 just finishing ahead of Mereja and Trastevere73.
Just as much drama is sure to follow this year. The second round of the 2020 MotoGP™ eSport Global Series takes place on the 2nd October, where eleven finalists will fight for one of the most prestigious titles in the gaming world.
