The thrill of competing to win is like no other, except for the thrill of being crowned World Champion. And that’s exactly what you can aim for in the 2018 MotoGP™ eSport Championship, with registration for the forthcoming season now open.
Players from across the globe will be able to compete on MotoGP18™ for Sony PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, in eight different and exciting challenges for a place in either Semi Final 1 (held at the MotoGP™ event at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli) or Semi Final 2 (held at the Movistar eSports Center in Madrid), with the ultimate goal for the final 12 competitors being a place in the Grand Final, taking place at the MotoGP™ season finale in Valencia.
The first four challenges are held at Austin, Sachsenring, Losail and Spielberg, the first beginning on the 18th July. Each challenge lasts five days and sees players proving their worth in the lower classes first, beating lap times in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, Moto3™ and Moto2™ categories before progressing to MotoGP™. However, should the competitor set an ‘exceptional’ time in either of the three classes, they can automatically move up to the MotoGP™ category, where the quickest player at the end of the challenge will progress through to Semi Final 1.
The final four challenges begin on 12th September and take place at Phillip Island, Mugello, Sepang and Buriram. The same rules apply as with the first four challenges, but this time the quickest players will instead progress into Semi Final 2.
Not only will competitors be racing for glory, but also for a number of top prizes. The fastest qualifiers from Semi Final 1, Semi Final 2 and the Grand Final will be presented with a Tissot watch and have the chance to live the experience like a real MotoGP™ rider. The winners of both Semi Finals will receive a BMW M Intensive Driving Experience at the legendary Nurburgring in Germany, whilst the top three from the Grand Final, in Valencia, will receive a Red Bull Hangar 7 Experience, alongside three main prizes and a BMW M240i Coupe being awarded to the 2018 Champion.
