The opening challenge for the 2018 MotoGP™ eSport Championship saw competitors aiming to set the fastest lap around the stunning 5.5km Circuit of the Americas in Texas on Marc Marquez’s Honda RC213V.

With players automatically racing in the premier class, it meant that their fastest time in the on MotoGP™ machinery would be the one that counts in getting to the top of the leaderboard on in the eSport Championship. Unlike in 2017, the option to modify setup on the motorcycles is available this year, making it even more of a challenge at the top.

The new format for this year opens up to players on the Sony PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, and sees three people from across the globe being crowned fastest on each platform, and getting a place in the all-important Semi Final 1 in September.

The quickest times for Challenge #1 are as follows:

SUOMY (UK) on PC: 1:54.595

ANDREWZH (Italy) on PS4: 1:54.659

TRASTEVERE_73 (Italy) on XBOX: 1:55.136

Last year’s MotoGP™ eSport World Champion, TRRASTEVERE_73, has qualified for this year’s competition, although unlike in 2017 he has used the Xbox One instead of the Sony PlayStation 4. The best lap of the challenge meanwhile has been set by SUOMY on the PC.

Competition is fierce at the top, but there’s no time to rest as gamers gear up for Challenge #2, held at Sachsenring on Bradley Smith’s Red Bull KTM RC16 between 25th – 29th July.
