Ahead of the second round of the year, Indonesia’s Sanshoqueen, who had been competing for Petronas SRT Yamaha, and Juan_Nh16, who lined up for Aprilia Racing Team Gresini, will depart the series.
In their place, two names that are known to fans of the MotoGP™ eSport Championship have their chance to shine. Petronas SRT Yamaha will call upon the services of FooXz for the remainder of the season, while Aprilia Racing Team Gresini has promoted Joel_Clay to its line-up.
Both riders already have excellent experience of competing on the big occasion. Hailing from Brazil, FooXz (real name: Henrique Botton) lined up for Repsol Honda in last year’s Global Series and finished eleventh overall, with 43 points to his name.
Joel_Clay (real name: Joel Pedrosa) may be a rookie in the Global Series arena, but his promise has been clear for some time. The 24-year old Spaniard placed twelfth in the European standings of this year’s Pro Draft.
The 2021 MotoGP™ eSport Global Series is already shaping up to be a classic, with two of the sport’s hottest names – two-time champion Trast73 and reigning champion Adriaan_26 – sharing the victories at round one. Indeed, both men are tied on the top of the standings with 45 points apiece.
Who will win the second battle of the season? Tune in on Friday 20 August at 16:00 (GMT+2) to find out!
