Francesco Bagnaia (Pramac Racing) and Maverick Viñales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) certainly didn't leave anything out on track after a crazy last lap fight for victory in the second Virtual MotoGP™ Race saw the Italian forced to use the grass in order to pull off his race-winning overtake.
The pair swapped places time and time again after breaking clear in the early stages of the #StayAtHomeGP, with Bagnaia able to claim a debut MotoGP™ win thanks to a move he even admits he wouldn't have got away with in real life.
"I had to concentrate so hard," said the former Moto2™ World Champion after the race. "When Maverick overtook me he was setting a really good pace. When he crashed and I took the lead again I started to make a lot of mistakes. It was difficult to manage the grip but I tried to stay in front of him. On the last lap when he overtook me I gave it everything, also touching the grass a little, but the battle was so much fun."
"I was pushing a lot and I tried to put a gap into Pecco but I braked a little too hard and crashed," said Viñales after a crash with three laps remaining cost him the victory. "I managed to recover and on the last lap I took the lead but I made a mistake and Pecco was able to overtake me again. It was a lot of fun though! And a good result for Yamaha in Austria. In the last corner for sure I was going to overtake Pecco but I made a mistake. It was so much fun though, a nice race and it was great to feel the emotion of a normal race."
