Global eyewear giant deepens their partnership with MotoGP™ in 2020, uniting with the biggest eSport Championship on two wheels

Dorna Sports is delighted to announce Oakley as a new partner to the MotoGP™ eSport Championship for 2020. Now in its fourth season, the record-breaking series is going from strength to strength and is proud to welcome on board such a key partner of MotoGP™ as the countdown to the start of the online qualification phase of the 2020 Championship heats up. That begins on the 5th of March and comprises three online challenges, kicking into gear another incredible season of competition as the series only continues to grow.

Fittingly, the first on-site event of the MotoGP™ eSport Championship then takes place at the Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley at Mugello, putting eSport and Oakley centre stage as the Global Series begins. The first of the four Global Series Rounds of this season will also be played around the Italian venue on Friday the 29th May, with Oakley taking top billing on screen and as title sponsor. The event is named Round 1 presented by Oakley.

From there, Round 2 takes place at the Red Bull Ring on the 14th of August and Round 3 at Misano on the 11th of September, before the season comes to a close alongside the MotoGP™ season finale on the 13th of November in Valencia.

Ben Goss, Global Marketing Director at Oakley: “The MotoGP team has done a phenomenal job in establishing the Championship as one of the top racing competitions in eSports, and we’re looking forward to working with the team at Mugello and beyond to create an unforgettable season for gamers and fans across the world.”

Pau Serracanta, Managing Director – Dorna Sports: “I’m very happy about this new agreement with Oakley, who are such an important partner of MotoGP. The fact that they also have products to improve the experience of the gamers makes our partnership even more important for the coming years.”
