MotoGP eSport Qualifying Session off to a flying start

Competitors made the most of their time on the track for a grid position in the Semifinals

Split into two groups; the official MotoGP™ eSport Qualifying Session divided competitors to take their best shot at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia. Taking part in the inaugural eSport Championship for motorcycling, were 16 players from Italy, Spain, Great Britain, South Africa, Germany and the Netherlands.

Group 1 of the QP1 Session, held on day-one of the Championship, was led on the timesheets by ‘MMANDZUKIC17’ with an impressive lap time of 1:25.320. Coming in at just 0:00.100 seconds behind the front-runner from Las Palmas was Italy’s ‘LUIGI48GP’. ‘TIMOTHYMCGARDEN’ from Germany made up the top three.

Following in fourth, hot on the heels of the German gamer was ‘VINDEX813’. The grid order for Group 1’s Semifinal on Friday continued with ‘AADRIAN_26’ in fifth, ‘KYRANDL49’ in sixth, plus ‘THEFUGIA’ and ‘RICK_MOTOGP_35’ in seventh and eighth place respectively.

Group 2 results may have started off as expected after the morning’s Free Practice with ‘TRASTEVERE73’ in number one spot on the grid. However, after that the players moved about quite significantly with ‘PAUL_IG’ taking the second-best time, followed by Italian competitor ‘IVANGAMER2346’ in third and ‘IOTIFOROSSI’ in fourth. The second row of the Semifinal grid was rounded out by Spanish duo ‘MOTERO_1’ and ‘JORGEGASEC’. ‘PISTOL_73’ made a final bid to secure a better starting position and crossed the line in seventh place, and the Netherlands ‘NJIRK5211’ will round out as the eighth player for Group 2's Semifinal.

The lights go out on the first ever MotoGP™ eSport Semifinal at 17:00 pm CET Friday 10 November, and the Main Event begins at approximately 18:30 pm.
