As the first stage of the 2020 MotoGP eSports Championship progresses, LCR Honda Castrol has moved to sign a familiar face for its Global Series campaign should he qualify via the Pro Draft.
If he makes the cut for the Global Series, Putut Maulana – better known to eSports fans as Moe 27 – will represent the satellite team that has won three MotoGP races across the past four years for the second season running.
Moe 27 put in a host of fine performances in the 2019 Global Series, showing tremendous promise by placing eighth in the final standings. His strong finishes gained him a legion of fans in his native Indonesia, as well as the neighbouring Malaysia and Thailand.
The Indonesian’s concentration skills, speed behind the controller and affability made him an ideal candidate for the LCR Honda Castrol squad as it seeks a contender to collect regular podium finishes in the eight-race Global Series that will determine who lifts the 2020 MotoGP eSports trophy.
Going off his performance in the first round of the Pro Draft, Moe 27 is well on course to qualify for the Global Series to secure his place in the LCR squad. He currently sits second in the Rest of the World section.
LCR team owner Lucio Cecchinello said of the move, “We’re really pleased to continue this journey with Moe: he’s a very talented and focused eSport player, beside being an extremely nice guy. Moreover, he’s a true celebrity in Asia: the support of his fans (not only form Indonesia, but also Malaysia, Thailand…) it’s impressive! Welcome back to the family Moe and… full gas!”
The second Online Challenge in the 2020 Pro Draft gets underway on Thursday 19th March.
