The early signs are promising. The 2025 MotoGP™ eSport Championship will be one to savour if the ultra-competitive Pro Draft was anything to go by.
Gamers from around the world had to compete in four Online Challenges, which set them the challenge of posting the fastest lap possible around a current MotoGP™ venue in time attack mode.
And a number of experienced MotoGP™ eSport gamers came to the fore, as well as a host of exciting new names.
Chief among them was the Brit PLaT1ForLyfe, who topped the European standings, scoring a maximum 100 points from a possible 100. Meanwhile, the Rest of the World standings were tied with the Indonesian duo Juanda39 and DipoAkbar12 also scoring a maximum 100 points.
During each Online Challenge, gamers were classified in one of two categories: those from Europe and those from the Rest of the World. The gamers setting the fastest times were awarded points, starting at 25 for first, 20 for second, 16 for third and so on.
The top 15 names in both the European and Rest of World standings will now go into a draft where current MotoGP™ teams can select their contender for the MotoGP™ eSport Global Series, which gets underway this month.
PLaT1ForLyfe was the quickest European, topping the Playstation standings, while reigning MotoGP™ eSport Champion Jack Hammer4658 was second overall using the Xbox with 95 points. Spanish hopeful JulitoCampeon15_ (PC) was joint third on 81 points, along with danielealoè26 (Xbox) – two names that have proven their pedigree during the high stakes Global Series in recent years.
In the Rest of the World classification, Juanda39 topped the PC standings on all four occasions. He was tied on maximum points with compatriot DipoAkbar12, who was the quickest name using the Xbox. Brazilian Turquinhojr (Playstation) was third, having scored 90 points.
The goal of the Pro Draft was to catch the eye of a current MotoGP™ team, by displaying speed, consistency and race craft to secure a place with one of them in the Global Series!
