The second round of the 2019 MotoGP™ eSport Championship is in full swing as 36 gamers from six different countries take part in the European Selection of the Pro Draft, which gets underway on 8th August.
Players had six Online Challenges to post a lap time worthy of Pro Draft qualification. A total of 72 participants will slog it out in two categories – the Rest of the World and Europe – to seal a place in the all-new Global Series, a six-race championship that will be held at three different locations visited by the MotoGP™ World Championship.
Italy, Spain, the UK, France, Germany and Belgium are all represented in the European selection, which will see the fastest nine riders (three using the PS4, three using the Xbox One and three from the PC) qualify for the third and final stage of this year’s MotoGP™ eSport Championship – the Global Series.
Of the 36 players competing in the European Selection, a two-time MotoGP™ eSport World Champion is present, as well as ten finalists from the 2017 series and twelve from last year’s competition. In short, the level is exceedingly high.
All eyes will be on Trastevere73, the Roman who won the 2017 and 2018 series. Still competition will come in the form of EleGhost555 from Jerez in Spain, who pushed Trastevere73 hardest in last year’s competition. EleGhost555 was the 2018 runner-up. AndrewZH, an Italian from Bologna and the third fastest rider in the 2018 series is also included in this selection.
Other contestants to keep an eye on it are the spanish brothers; Cristianmm17 and AdrianDP26. Cristianmm17, 2017 runner-up and 2018 Semi-Final winner, will be competing for a place in PS4. Meanwile, his brother AdrianDP26, who has dominated the Online Challenges Phase by doing 5 out of 6 Challenge Best Laps, will be competing in PC.
Of the six nationalities represented, Italy boasts of the highest number of participants. 14 Italians will take part in the European Selection with 13 hailing from Spain. The UK is next up with 4 entries. Then comes France (2), Germany (2) and Belgium (1).
As well as a number of riders who made the finals in the past, the European Selection also features Jorge_Sprinter, a Youtuber from Spain who has 38 thousand subscribers to his Youtube channel.
The European Selection takes place from 8th-11th August. Gamers will have to contest Le Mans using Miguel Oliveira’s Red Bull KTM Tech 3 RC16.
