From 9 to 10 November, the 16 qualifiers of the 2017 Grand Final of the MotoGP™ eSport Championship will compete against each other to decide the world’s first MotoGP™ eSport Champion.
Qualifying for the MotoGP™ eSport is an exclusive and exciting prize all of its own – as the fastest MotoGP™17 players on earth arrive at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana for an all-expenses-paid experience in Spain, and a VIP weekend at the most significant event on the MotoGP™ calendar.
However, over two days from Thursday 9 November, the real work begins. And the news that all have been waiting for; the circuit which will decide the newest eSport Champion. The Circuito de la Comunitat Valenciana is the destination and the virtual track of choice for this showdown of gaming talent. Players will ride the entire Grand Final event on the Spanish circuit, giving them ample time to practice and perfect their knowledge of each twist and turn.
Competitors start their first MotoGP™17 sessions, exclusively on PlayStation®4, with 10 minutes of Free Practice. Following FP is the selection period for the motorbike each player will ride for the duration of the Finals, including Qualifying – with the fastest in Free Practice having first choice. However, all bikes are pre-set to equal performance no matter the make or manufacturer for Qualifying sessions and the Finals.
Following the motorbike selection, two QP for the first Semi-Finals will also take place on Thursday, and last for 10 minutes. QP will be separated into two groups, Group 1 and Group 2, with the fastest from FP in Group 1, the second fastest in Group 2, the third fastest allocated to Group 1 and so on for the 16 players.
On Friday, November 10, from 17:00 CET, the MotoGP eSport Grand Final begins and will be available LIVE to watch via MotoGP™ Broadcasters and Streaming Online. Head to the following sites for access: motogp.com, YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, and Twitter.
Starting with the Semi-Final for Group 1, players will have the positions allocated based on times from Thursday’s Qualifying session. The Semi-Final races, one for each group, will be ten laps in duration, and the top four players from each will automatically go through to the Final.
Following the two Semi-Final events, one last 10 minute QP session will be held to determine grid placing for the eight players in the Main Event. The Grand Final will consist of 10 laps, to commence at approx. 18:30 CET on 10 November.
The 2017 MotoGP™ eSport Champion will be crowned Friday 10 November; taking the title, the brand new BMW240i Coupe and an incredible Red Bull Hanger Experience in Austria. Joining them for this unforgettable trip will be the two Runners-up – who are also bring home a KTM RC390 or Samsung Smart TV.
