All you need to know about the 2023 Pro Draft

The 2023 MotoGP™ eSport Championship fires into life at the end of this month. Here are some FAQ on the first stage of this year’s series.

The MotoGP™ eSport Championship is back and better than ever for a seventh year in succession, building on the successes of previous years.

Using MotoGP™ 23 gamers from around the world will be aiming to make it to the four-round Global Series, which will decide the 2023 MotoGP™ eSport Champion.

But to make it that far, gamers must first progress through the Pro Draft. Only the fastest hopefuls in the 3 Online Challenges can then progress to the next stage of this year’s MotoGP™ eSport Championship, where they could be picked up by a current MotoGP™ team.

So, how does the Pro Draft Work? Here we address some FAQs on what is needed to progress.

How is it structured?
The Pro Draft consists of 3 Online Challenges which will be disputed in time attack mode on a particular track, with a chosen MotoGP™ rider and machine without any opponents.

When does it start?
Each of the three Online Challenges will run for five days (from Wednesday to Sunday). The first of these begins on 28th June and runs until 2nd July. The second gets underway on 5th July and ends on the 9th. And the third and final Online Challenge runs from the 12th-16th July.

What game do I use?
Gamers around the world will use the recently launched MotoGP™ 23 videogame for all 3 Online Challenges.

What console do I use?
During the 1st Online Challenge all gamers will be able to compete across multiple platforms (Sony PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC). After the 1st Online Challenge, gamers must compete with the platform with which they achieved their best position.

How do I qualify?
When competing in each Online Challenge, gamers will be classified in one of two categories: those from Europe and those from the Rest of the World. The gamers setting the fastest times will be awarded points. At the end of the 3rd Online Challenge the 15 gamers with the most points in the European classification and the seven from the Rest of the World classification will make up the 22 riders that qualify for the Draft Selection, plus the winner of last year’s Rising Stars Series.

How does the points system work?
Top 15 gamers per platform and World Region (Europe, Rest of the World) will be awarded by points depending on their finishing positions using the official MotoGP™ scoring system.

That scoring system is as follows: 25 points for 1st, 20 for 2nd, 16 for 3rd, 13 for 4th, 11 for 5th, 10 for 6th, 9 for 7th, 8 for 8th, 7 for 9th, 6 for 10th, 5 for 11th, 4 for 12th, 3 for 13th, 2 for 14th and 1 for 15th.

What bikes and tracks will be used for the Online Challenges?
That is top secret at the moment. But all will be revealed during the week of each Online Challenge!
